What is a TPD claim?
TPD stands for Total and Permanent Disability. Many Australian superannuation funds include TPD insurance, which can pay a lump sum if an injury or illness leaves you unable to work in your usual job, or any job suited to your education, training or experience.
Does the injury or illness have to be work related?
No. Unlike workers' compensation, TPD cover through super can apply to injuries and illnesses from any cause, including conditions that developed over time, as long as they stop you from working.
Do I need a lawyer to make a TPD claim?
